Frankie and Amelia
After Franklin became separated from his family, he had to learn to fend for himself, hiding during the day and prowling for food at night. He makes an unlikely friend with a raccoon who helps him forage for meals, and one day he meets Chester, a goofy dog who doesn’t realize cats and dogs are supposed to be natural enemies. Chester is a service dog for his person, a boy named Gus. And Chester knows Franklin needs a home—and he knows the perfect person—one of Gus’s classmates. Amelia loves cats but she has a harder time with people. And at school, it seems that no one really understands her, either. Franklin does, though. When Amelia has an incident with some classmates at school, Franklin wants to help the girl who’s done so much to help him. He’s not sure how, yet, but he’s determined to try.
