Magician-in-training Evan Treski, a fourth-grader, is obsessed with making things appear and disappear. His younger sister, Jessie, wants to catch a rabbit so she can be in Evan’s magic show. When their war correspondent dad appears unexpectedly and offers to stay for a week while their mother is out of town, the kids are excited and wary. The visit gets off to a thrilling start, but when Dad disappears as suddenly as he came and a monster storm bears down on their home, Evan and Jessie are left to fend for themselves. Can they keep themselves safe?
