Following the events of The Box in the Woods, Stevie is back at Ellingham—without David. He’s abroad in England, making connections and studying. When Stevie and her friends come to England for their own study abroad program, Stevie discovers another cold case from the past: The Nine Liars. Nine friends from Cambridge University went to a party at a country house and played a drunken game of hide-and-seek, but two of them didn’t survive the game. Both were found murdered in a woodshed by an axe. After a chance encounter brings Stevie into the orbit of one of the surviving seven, she begins to investigate—and suddenly the cold case heats up with another death. What happened in 1995 at that country house? Stevie will solve the contemporary murder along with the cold case—once again!
