Art facilitates problem-solving because it exposes deep-seeded truths about ourselves that might otherwise stand in the way of our escape; even the truths we’ve hidden from ourselves. Amy Herman has crisscrossed the globe for 18 years working with everyone from Silicon Valley executives to Navy SEALs, with NYPD homicide detectives and hostage negotiators, with Senators from both sides of the aisle, and she’s learned that sometimes we have to look behind, below, or backwards from the obvious answer to find the right one. Her unique way of teaching us to see things differently, by examining our reactions to art, has helped her to create a profound problem-solving method by looking for solutions in unexpected places.
