In the pages of the book, Arment uses research and anecdotes to dispel myths such as homeschooling kids have a harder time getting into college, that they have poor social skills, or don’t receive as rigorous of an education, then shares the Wild + Free mission: to preserve our children's childhood and instill a lifelong love of learning. The Wild + Free movement is focused on a love of nature, reading great books, pursuing interests, making the world our classroom, and prolonging the wonder of childhood. The final part of the book gives practical instruction about how to implement this method in their own home, sharing ideas about how to spend time out in nature, how to include lots of time for reading "living books," and how to encourage kids to develop their unique passions.
