Told in alternating past and present chapters, Bri’s story unfolds over the eight months leading up to her bat mitzvah—as well as over the course of the big day itself. Bri’s not sure she even wants a bat mitzvah—she’s not super religious, and everyone knows how much she likes the spotlight (not!). But her mom once again has managed to persuade (guilt?) her into stepping out of her comfort zone. Now she’s struggling with the Hebrew, the party invite list, friend and family drama… but there’s no turning back now. Bri begins to wonder what a bat mitzvah is really all about, anyway.
