Fifty-Four Things Wrong with Gwendolyn Rogers
Gwendolyn Rogers knows that her brain is cracked. According to the behavioral report she wasn’t supposed to see, there are not two or three, but fifty-four things wrong with her. Gwen can’t help being impulsive or forgetful. And she doesn’t always mean to release the anger that bubbles up inside of her, which has pushed everyone away besides her best friend, Hettie, and half-brother, Tyler. As someone with ADHD, he can relate to losing control. Unlike Tyler though, Gwen is still desperately searching for a long-term solution. Then Gwen and her mom come up with a plan. If she can earn enough stickers for good behavior by the end of her sixth-grade year, she’ll be allowed to go to horse camp—the only place where she’s ever truly kept her anger at bay. But with sarcastic teachers, too-loose braids that disrupt her focus, and failed treatments triggering her nonstop, it feels like an impossible goal. For her mom’s sake and her own, Gwen will do whatever it takes to prove that she can be good and that her actions alone don’t define her.
