When Stella's estranged, larger-than-life mother dies, she leaves Stella with a curious inheritance: a one-way plane ticket and a note reading 'Go to Paris'. Stella has no desire to step outside her comfortable routines and predictable life, but eventually resigns herself to honouring her mother's wishes. Alone in a foreign city, Stella falls back to old habits, living cautiously, spending little, avoiding other people. Until, that is, she stumbles across an octogenarian art-collector who takes her under his wing. Together, they discover a passion for food, art and fashion, and Stella begins to wonder if there might be a life outside her comfort zone after all...
