Spine poems have become a fun and popular way of writing poetry. During the height of the pandemic, published writer, award-winning creative director, and former bookseller Annette Simon found herself musing on her bookshelves more than usual. The result is this book.  Spine Poems is a wonderful collection of more than 100 spine poems that range from poignant and profound, to hilarious, to heart-rending. The book is organized by theme, not unlike the section categories of a bookstore: Art, Business, Cooking, Music, Politics, and so on. Similarly, each poem pulls from a wide variety of genres and may be short and quippy or longer and more poignant. Each poem in the book is shown in a photograph of stacked photographs taken by the author herself and replicated in text form on the opposite page, along with a short list of the authors whose book is included in the poem. Also included are quotes, fun facts, and other related bits of literary and popular culture related to the subjects, authors, and titles at hand.
