The Last Confessions of Sylvia P.  interweaves three unique narratives and eras that build on each other to ultimately tell a cohesive multigenerational story about a fictional chapter in the history of The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.  One narrative is seen through the perspective of Estee, a seasoned curator for a small Massachusetts auction house who, in 2019, uncovers and sets out to sell Sylvia Plath’s original handwritten manuscript.  In the second strand, the origin story behind The Bell Jar is revealed through the perspective of Plath’s psychiatrist, Dr. Ruth Barnhouse, who years earlier treats Plath at McLean Hospital and sets her on a path toward literary greatness.  In the third narrative, Boston Rhodes, a literary rival of Plath’s whose enmity simultaneously pushes Plath to write about her experiences at McLean Hospital and also tips her into a fatal spiral of madness.  This evocative novel figures a rich mix of fictional and real characters offering up a seductive and hugely appealing read.
